Senate Rejects HB 1291, Closes Door on Effort to Address NH Housing Crisis

CONCORD – Today, the New Hampshire Senate voted to Indefinitely Postpone HB 1291 following the rejection of a floor amendment offered by Senator Soucy.

Following the vote, a joint statement was released from Housing Action New Hampshire, New Hampshire REALTORS, and Business & Industry Association NH:

“By voting down the ADU bill today, the Senate has closed the door on a simple solution to allow Granite Staters to use their own private property to help with the housing crisis. Our organizations will continue to mobilize our thousands of members to educate state lawmakers so they can start providing solutions instead of voting down important housing legislation.

Our organizations thank the following Senators who supported the bill: Senator Watters, Senator Fenton, Senator Rosenwald, Senator Chandley, Senator Whitley, Senator Soucy, Senator D’Allesandro, and Senator Perkins Kwoka.”

Housing Action NH works to improve state and federal policy so everyone in New Hampshire has a place to call home.
